The Noises of Suburbia

Whining howl
Blade on stone
Like a hive of angry bees
The lawnmower cuts its swathe

* * * * * * * * * *

A dog barks
Disturbed by a stranger
Or disturbing a bird
Silently perusing the menu
In cut lawn & wet soil

* * * * * * * * * *

Cars scurry to & fro
Carrying people
On their hectic trails
Of business & socialisation

* * * * * * * * * *

The family of
New Holland Honeyeaters
Flits & sings
Supporting each other
In their zest for life
